A no-claims discount normally belongs to the policyholder who earned it. Some insurers recognise a spouse or partner's named-driver history or offer an introductory discount, but this is not the same as automatically transferring another person's no-claims discount.
How insurers commonly treat this
- Named drivers do not necessarily build a conventional no-claims discount.
- Insurers differ in the driving-history evidence they accept.
- A transfer of a no-claims discount should only be entered on a proposal where the insurer accepts that transfer.
